The Power of Creative Women

I love shooting portraits, and I especially love shooting artist portraits, but I have to say Molly Courcelle and Bee Sieburg gave me a new favorite...photographing Mother / Daughter Artist duos.  Although I bet their amazing relationship and history is a special and unique one that you don't find often.

Molly and Bee asked me to photograph them for an upcoming show, and I was deeply honored I got the privilege to work with them!  They have been painting together at the Wedge Building in the River Arts District for over 10 years.  And before that they owned the Gardener’s Cottage together in Biltmore Village.  So this show at Wedge Foundation is a celebration of their 10 years of painting together.  I love nothing more then sharing this sort of history with our local community, empowering artists in the community and especially women in the community.

Check out their websites and if you live in the area or ever visit make sure to stop in and see them.  In person, their artwork is beautiful and powerfully moving and their creativity, along with them personally, brings a warmth to your heart.

Golden Light and the Bluebird

I recently teamed up with jewelry designer Jessica Hall of Bluebird Design to do a summer product shoot for her latest jewelry line.  Our vision of lace, boho fashions with a light, summery feel was the perfect pairing for her colorful, handcrafted jewelry, highlighting birds and silver feathers in earrings, bracelets and necklaces.  She wanted to show that the pieces were simple enough to be worn on their own, or could be fashioned with multiple strands of contrasting styles and colors for a fun, chic look.

First we started at a fun little picnic with vintage books and tea cups I've been collecting from antique shops over the years. Then we caught the last of the golden light in some grassy fields on top of a hill overlooking the mountain side, and danced to a jazzy playlist on someone's iphone in the distance.  We laughed as we made a mad dash towards the end to get all the pieces in before the sun went behind the mountain.  I've never seen the sun so golden.  Thank you to Jessica, Coco and Emma for a wonderful day!  You ladies are amazing.
